16 Months Old

Maddi is 16 months old today!! She started the day off a little rough. She woke up at 5:15 blowing raspberries in her bed. We were so tired and thinking "What the heck is up with her this early?" She alternated between babbling and fussing for about 45 minutes and then progressed to an all out wail by 6:00. So I finally decided to get up with her and start getting ready for work. She stayed a little fussy for awhile so I gave her Motrin. Usually, she blows raspberries when she's having teething pain. I've heard it feels good to them with the air blowing across their gums. She cheered up after awhile and stayed in a good mood until I dropped her off at school.

Man, once they start talking, it is amazing at how fast their vocabulary grows. Some of her new words:

"Pato" (our dog)--His name is pronounced pah' toh and she says it with a T--"Tato"--so cute.

"Bye bye"--She pronounces this with a T at the beginning as well--"tye tye." She knows exactly when we are leaving and starts waving to everyone or thing, including Pato and saying "bye bye."

"What's that?"-- Which sounds more like "s'that?" I can't remember if I've mentioned this one before but she is definitely saying this one A LOT now. To the point of driving me crazy at times!

"Love you!"-- This one she doesn't say spontaneously yet, but has been repeating it when we say it.

"No" has turned into "No No!"

"Please"-- She still signs this one most of the time but every now and again she will surprise me and say it pretty clearly.

"Five!"--Moss had her on the changing table the other day and she started saying "Five!" and holding up her hand for us to give her a high five over and over again. It was so cute and funny!

"Moo"--She'll say this when you point to a cow and ask what it is. She won't say "cow" except for once when we were stopped at a stop light and she saw some cows out the window. I kept repeating "cow" and she finally said something that resembled "cow" pretty closely, but she hasn't said it again since.

I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I post this.

She is also still doing really well at Little Gym class. It's amazing the difference a couple of months makes. They stick to a routine and she has definitely got the hang of it. She knows where she is supposed to go when and she knows when to clap to all the songs. She loves the tumbling and has no fear of anything she tries. I love that about her!

She'll have her second swim lesson tomorrow. Moss won't be able to make it so no pictures again of the actually lesson. But I'll probably take more of her in her bathing suit. A different one this time! She has 5 I think! Spoiled much? Nah! Hopefully, this lesson will start off the way the last one ended.

Here are some pics from today!

These were this morning after she cheered up. She still had her crazy bed head going on. It was hard to tame today!

Miss Attitude!

This was after school eating her snack.

Miss Serious in this one!

She still loves her chair and goes right to it when we turn a video on for her.

Being silly!

Oops! Lost our balance here!

"Stop taking pictures! I could use a hand here Mommy!"

She has really been getting into baby dolls lately. I noticed when I would pick her up from school. So I bought her one the other day and she loves it. She'll bring it to me to wrap the blanket around and I'll hand it back to her. She'll cradle it like it's precious cargo and then next second she drops it on the floor and stands on it. Hmmm, we'll have to work on those mothering skills. Especially when we decide to give her another little brother or sister. But there is still PLENTY of time for that!

Little Mama!

That is too cute! My favorite thing of hers is that she like high fives! That would crack me up. I've been thinking that you need to do a child photo comparison of you two. I remember seeing a picture of you at Mom & Dad's house when you were about the size that Maddi is now and I bet you will get a big reaction if you scanned that photo in and posted it next to one of Maddi's. I am so shocked how much she looks like you! So beautiful!
