More Weekend Pics
Just some more pics from the weekend. Maddi and I went to Bud and Sissi's on Saturday. Moss stayed at home to do some stuff around the house after the storms. We went swimming at one of my mom's friend's house and then went out to eat afterwards. It ended up getting late so Maddi and I ended up staying the night. We had a great time! Maddi loved hanging with her cousins!

19 Months Old
Maddi turned 19 months old on Friday! I tried getting pictures of her then, but we were busy eating an early dinner and getting ready for swim lessons so I really didn't get any good ones. So I took some on Saturday while we were out at my parents house. Maddi continues to be such a joy everyday! She is also pretty full of herself. She throws a few more tantrums now that we are approaching the ever-so-feared "terrible twos!" We have had to make use of the "time out" a few times here recently! But overall, it's not that bad.
Her vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds. Even other people who aren't around her on a daily basis are starting to be able to understand certain things she says now. When I think of how much she has changed developmentally in the last several months, it really blows me away!
I tell her all the time that I wish she would stop growing! If I could just bottle her up right now I would! Of course, then I would miss out on all the other great things she is going to do in the future!

Family Photos
We recently had family photos taken and below are a few of them. We didn't get many this time. I don't really recommend family photos with an 18 month old!! She was so not interested in sitting still for the camera! If I had been smart, I would have brought along a 3rd person to stand behind our photographer to help get her to pay attention, smile, look at the camera, etc. Oh well, lessons learned! We did manage to get a few I liked though. Again, they were all taken by Amy Doggett with Simply Captivating. She always does such a good job for us!

A Day At The Races!
Maddi and I met my mom at Lone Star Park to watch the horse races on Saturday. It was VERY hot out there. Maddi did really well and enjoyed watching the horses. I slathered her with sunscreen about 3 or 4 times while we were out there and it worked because she isn't burned at all. I didn't do so well on me though. I'm a little crispy in a few places. I won a few little races betting, but overall was down for the day. : ( But we had a great time anyway!

Eating a sno-cone. My mom wanted to get her one and I would only let her get one that didn't have dye in it. So my mom got her coconut. It's a good thing too, because she ended up spilling this one in the seat and soaking her shorts. At least it wasn't red!
After each race, the winning jockey signs a pair of riding goggles and gives them away to a kid around the winner's circle. I wanted to go and try to get Maddi a pair. There are a bunch of kids wanting them and they are hard to get. So we went and the jockey above is the winning jockey and he was actually signing the goggles here.
We had Maddi sitting on the rail and my mom was calling out the jockey's name every so often (a little embarrassing) and I would have Maddi wave. She just sat there clapping like everyone else was and waving every now and then and looking cute. My mom said that sometimes people go up to the jockey and point to the kid they want them to give the goggles too. The girl in the pic above (the teeny bopper dressed like a floozy...oops! Did I say that?) went up to him and was pointing somewhere off to the side. I was like, ahh man.
But he just shook his head at her and came straight up to Maddi! I was so excited! She was actually so enthralled with the horse she didn't even notice at first he was handing her something. But as soon as she did, she took them and very seriously started trying to put them on! So cute! And I didn't see it, but mom said she was on the jumbo-tron, too! It's rare you get a pair on your first try. But I mean, did I ever have any doubt? I have the cutest baby in the world!

Hangin' Tough at Little Gym
Maddi had her last Little Gym class for this semester this morning. She'll start the new class next week and she actually moves up an age group. Which for Mom and Dad means getting to sleep later because it doesn't start until 9:30 instead of 8:45! : ) We took some more pics today. Not a whole lot new though. Maddi still can't do a front roll on her own, but neither can really any of the other kids in the class. She does know what it is and knows to put her head and hands down. Now, if we can just get her to push herself over.
The one thing I have noticed a HUGE difference in since the beginning of the class is her upper body strength! She can hang for 10 or more seconds from the bar on her own! I was pretty impressed with that.
At the end of class, they got a little ribbon to show for all their hard work!
I'm not helping her at all here!

6 Seconds
We finally got some video of Maddi during her swim lessons. This was her second lesson in the Waterbaby 2 class. We went from 5 seconds underwater to 6 seconds! Maddi handled it just fine. I posted 4 videos but they are all fairly short.
This first one I was laughing because when I would put Maddi up on the side of the pool, water would start dripping down off her bathing suit. It looked like she was peeing, but she wasn't. She found this highly entertaining and kept bending over to put her hand between her legs to catch the water. What a goof!
They call this "Magic Carpet Ride."
