"No Dance Mama!"

It has been awhile since I posted anything. So, I'm making up for it today. Moss' parents were in town last weekend and I would have posted then but we didn't take any pics the entire weekend! I took my camera with me to breakfast on Sunday before they left. But when I went to get it out I realized I had not put the memory card back in. Oh well! But we had a great time visiting with them.

This weekend, Moss is out of town again. So, it's just Maddi and I. We had a great day! For the most part, she was in a really good mood and was being so cute! We got up and ate breakfast while watching Sesame Street and The Mickey Mouse Club. Then we got dressed to go out for awhile. While I was getting ready was about the only time she had a meltdown. She can last about 15-20 minutes then she starts getting upset for whatever reason. I think she just wants me to pay attention to her again! That seems about right for this age! So, I finally get ready and take her into her room to get her dressed. I laid her on the changing table and I could hear a song or something from the TV in the living room. So to try and cheer her up I started dancing and singing. She looked at me and shook her head and said "No dance, Mama!" I couldn't believe it. She has said a few three word sentences before. But they were things she has heard us say before, like, "That's Dada's cup," or something like that. This one she put together all by herself! Although, I was a little offended that it was to tell me to stop dancing. Oh well. It was funny! I kept dancing anyway and she kept saying it!

So, we finally got ourselves out of the house. We made a Target run and then hit Old Navy to see what they had on sell. On our way home, I stopped by Sonic. The one by our house actually has a little playground. It was lunch time, so I decided to let her play and ordered us a grilled cheese and tater tots to share. And of course, my daily vanilla diet coke! We had a blast! Then we came back home and it was nap time. We both slept! Ha!

After we woke up, I took her up to this shopping center up the road that has this cute little pavilion out front with a lot of grass and space for her to run around in and benches to climb on. We got a milk shake on the way there. I never let her have that stuff, but decided this would be a special occasion. Since she never gets them, she actually didn't drink a whole lot of it. So, I had to finish it! Darn! It got rather hot after awhile, so we left and came back home to eat dinner and watch a LOT of Elmo. Then it was time for bed.

I had so much fun with her today! She is getting to be such a fun age! Tomorrow we will see my aunt and uncle who are coming in town for the day! That should be fun!

Tired baby!

Scaring Mom trying to climb up the bars all by herself!

Eating lunch!

I love her eyes in this picture!

Upset because I wouldn't let her climb down the bars by herself. Can we say Drama Queen?

One of her new things is pointing out flags while we're driving. She screams "Flag!" And then gets upset when we pass it and says "More flag!"

Saying "Bye Bye, Mama!"

We found a feather and it became a great source of entertainment for her!

What a face!

20 Months Old

Man, that just sounds too unbelievable that she could possibly be that old! As I was going back through the pictures to edit them, I couldn't believe how big she was looking in some of them. You don't always notice those little changes on a daily basis. We didn't do much today. Moss was out at his Dad's place in Palestine last night. So we went outside for a little while after her nap. But it was soooo hot outside!! I did what I could to get some pics of her during the short time we stayed out there. She's onry with picture taking lately. Really doesn't want to pose for the camera. She makes you work for a good picture! I was sweating by the time we finally went inside!! A lot of them look the same since I couldn't get her to do much. But I posted all of them because I had to work so hard to get them!

An update on the potty training:
We really aren't doing it religiously right now. I just want her to sort of get used to the idea. But I make sure to at least sit her on it once a day to keep with the routine. She likes to sit on it. But she hasn't gone on the potty anymore since the first two times. She doesn't like to sit on it for very long because I think it hurts her little bottom. It doesn't have a soft seat and when she gets up there is a red indented ring on her butt! I do have a soft seated one that sits on the toilet itself but she doesn't like it because it moves around too much. So not sure if I should go shopping for a THIRD seat or just keep on with what we've got. I'll have to do some thinking on that.

Anyway, here are our pics from today!

In all these next ones, she was looking very indignant and I can't think of why! But I thought they were cute!

It's Potty Time!!

I've been debating on when to start potty training Maddi here recently. She is definitely showing signs of readiness! Currently, the class she is in at school right now doesn't do any potty training, so it wouldn't really be beneficial to seriously start right now. But she moves up to the next class in August. So, today I decided to pull out the potty chair just to introduce her to it. She was very receptive to it and sat right down on it. She would keep getting up and down some, but when I asked if she was done, she would say no. We sat there for about 10-15 minutes and I was getting bored and was about to just get her off even if she got mad. But then she stood up and pointed to the potty and said "water!" I was confused and looked in the bowl but didn't see anything. So I told her, "no, we're not putting water in there," and sat her back down. But she stood up and said it again, and this time she stuck her finger in the bowl and I could tell then that she had actually gone potty! I couldn't tell the first time because it was so clear. Then I was grossed out by the fact she was putting her finger in it! I was trying to explain to her that it wasn't water, it was "t.t." and she was such a good girl for going on the potty! Once we got that straightened out, I took her straight to the sink to wash her hands! Yuck! But I was so excited! I know we still have a ways to go, but this is definitely a first step towards no diapers!! And yes, I took pictures of her on the potty! I needed something to do since she wouldn't let me leave.

We had to have our "snack" while we sat there! I know I shouldn't let her have food during potty time, but she had a mind of her own today and I wasn't up to fighting her on it!

And we had to have Bob (the monkey) too!

And we are working on brushing our teeth. She's kind of starting to get the idea on this one, but still mainly just likes to suck the toothpaste off.

Our 4th of July Weekend

We had a great holiday weekend...especially with the extra day off! We didn't do much on Friday, but Saturday we went out to my parents' house in Weatherford. All the kids got to play outside, jump on the trampoline, and swim in the little kiddie pools. Maddi had a great time! We ended up staying the night and then my mom and I went into Weatherford Sunday morning to go to First Monday. We enjoyed our mother/daughter shopping time. Then we headed back home. The weekend definitely went by way too fast!

Maddi and Aunt Ashly.

Flag girl!

I was trying to get a picture with her, but she kept swinging the flags around and hitting me in the face! She loved those things!

Finally got a good pic.

Maddi wanted to jump on the trampoline when she saw the bigger kids up there. This didn't last too long though because trampolines really freak me out! She kept running towards the edge and I had to run and catch her! Not fun.

She finally got in this teeny tiny pool my mom brought out. She actually played in it for quite a while.

Kaily and Peyton on the trampoline.

Ashly and Sadee.

Uncle Scott.

Maddi and Daddy.

Sadee liked sitting in the pool, but only if there wasn't any water in it. So Maddi sat in it with her for awhile.

Maddi finally moved up to the big kid's pool!

She even figured out how to climb up on the slide and slide down all by herself! No help needed!

Then she kept wanting her bathing suit off and I couldn't figure out why. She kept pulling at it and saying "off." So, I finally took it off and she was happy as could be. A few minutes later, I noticed a bug bite on her little butt cheek right where the diaper edge was. I guess it was bothering her! We let her run around like this for quite awhile until Moss came out and made me put a diaper on her. Be forewarned, there are a lot of butt shots coming!

I love this one!

My mom had caught a frog on her porch and we were showing it to Maddi.

I so wish I had had a video camera right at this moment! Right as my mom showed it to her, it tried to jump out and hopped up on the side of the bucket. My mom was holding the bucket and she screamed and then I screamed, and then Maddison did this little hop/ jig thing a couple of times and ran over to me! I was laughing so hard! I still laugh when I think about it! It was so funny!

She wouldn't let go of me for a few minutes!

Another butt shot because it is just such a cute butt!

We are hard nosed parents and refused to keep Maddi up past her 7:30 bedtime for fireworks. So right before she went down, my mom gave her these glow sticks which she loved playing with. Maybe next year, we will bend the rules some!

One of the reasons I wanted to go to First Monday was to look at some furniture. I was looking for a piece to go in this one spot in our living room and I wanted it to have some storage space for Maddi's toys that she plays with the most and end up out there all the time. This is what I ended up getting and once we got it inside Maddi thought it was the greatest thing to climb up in it and play!

Where's Maddi?

There she is!
