21 Months Old

Maddi turned 21 months on Wednesday! I can't believe I have an almost 2-year old! The biggest change in her right now is her growing vocabulary!!! I can't believe how many things she is saying now. I swear I hear her use 2-5 new words a day. It is amazing! Her newest word that I love is "macaroni!" It is her favorite food. She has also started saying "mommy" and "daddy" in place of "mama" and "dada." It sounds so cute when she says it!

She is still loving books right now and she loves Elmo! She loves to play outside no matter what the weather is! She loves shoes and is constantly bringing her shoes to us to put on or she is wearing our shoes! She is getting very picky about what clothes we put on her which is not a good sign for the future!

We have been having to discipline more and more with her. Raising a toddler is hard work!! She is so strong willed it makes life very difficult some days. But I am sure we will get through it somehow. We are becoming very familiar with timeouts!

She is doing great in her swimming lessons still! She moves up to Waterbaby 3 in a couple weeks. We still have her in Little Gym, but since they had to close the Carrollton location and we have been going to the Southlake gym, we haven't liked it as much. We have skipped quite a few this summer. But we have her signed up at the Denton location starting in 2 weeks, so hopefully we will like that one better. She has actually done a few good somersaults here lately though! So she is learning! And the last time we had her on the bars, she hung by herself for a good 20 seconds!

On Aug. 24 she will be moving up to the Early Preschool class at her school. I am so excited to see all the new things she will be learning. They have already begun transitioning her over to that classroom by letting her spend a few hours at a time during the day with the new class. They said the other day that she likes it so much, when they come to take her back to the Young Toddler room, she sits down and doesn't want to go! She knows she's a big girl now!

Here are the pics I took of her on Wednesday. They aren't very good. I had worked a long day that day and was very tired and she was a mess after school. I didn't have the energy to do much about it though. And the humidity must have been doing something funny to her hair that day because the little hairs around her face were much curlier than usual. I got the best ones I could though. Oh well. Maybe I'll have better luch at 22 months!

Living Like Gypsies!

I am so far behind on my blogging! I'm just now getting around to blogging about last weekend! On Saturday morning, our a/c went out. Just what you need in the middle of August right? So Maddi and I headed out to my parents house while Moss stayed behind to talk to an a/c guy. They diagnosed the problem as needing a new compressor but they couldn't get the part until Monday. So, Moss joined us out at my parents house to stay the night on Saturday. My mom was actually out of town, so my Dad put us up for the night. Maddi loves going out there and had a great time playing with all the different toys my mom keeps out there.

On Sunday, we headed to Irving to stay with Summer and Augie. We were both going to have to go into work on Monday and they are much closer to work than my parents are which is why we stayed with them on Sunday. And which is why we felt like a bunch of traveling gypsies over the weekend. But Maddi enjoyed playing with Kynli and all her toys, too! We've been wanting to get the girls together for awhile now and although this wasn't how I wished it to happen, it turned out to be great!

Luckily, our air got fixed on Monday. We were lucky enough to have the a/c under warranty so we didn't have to pay the $1500 for the compressor! However, we had to pay close to $900 for the labor! I think I'm in the wrong business!

Random pics of Maddi!

Maddi's nose started running and she pointed to her nose letting me know she needed someone to get a Kleenex to it. She has been doing that a lot lately. So I ran to get one and when I looked back she was wiping her nose with her shirt! Moss looked over and said "Oh yeah, I may have taught her that." He said the other day they were sitting on the couch and he didn't feel like getting up to get a Kleenex do he just used her shirt! Men!

Kynli and Maddi playing. Maddi is at that age where many things are "mine!" Even if they aren't hers. I am trying to work with her on that, but overall she did well playing with Kynil!

Taking a milk break!

Goodnight hugs and kisses!

Pool Party and Meeting Baby Ethan

This Saturday, we went to a "meet the baby" pool party. Amy, the girl who takes all of Maddi's pictures and our family pictures, had a little boy in June. His name is Ethan. They had a pool party at their beautiful home so everyone could meet the newest addition to their family. He is the third for them, so you can imagine how busy they are! We had a great time! Maddi loved swimming in the pool and jumping in the bounce house. There were a couple of other little girls their close to Maddi's age, just a little older. She enjoyed playing with them. We got to see a lot of friends that we don't get to see as often lately which Moss and I enjoyed!

Baby Ethan was so cute and cuddly! And a very good baby! Especially getting passed around by everyone. Maddi LOVES babies, and Ethan was no exception. When we were getting our picture taken with him she wouldn't even look at the camera! She kept looking at him and then she held his arm. It was so cute! Then she wanted to hold the baby, so Amy very sweetly let her. She wouldn't smile but I think she liked it. Although, when Ethan started fussing she wasn't too sure about that. As soon as she was done though, she went to find her Daddy to tell him about holding the baby. She was so cute! I think one day she will make a good big sister! Not anytime soon though!

Water gun fight with Daddy!

Maddi manages to commandeer Daddy's gun...so I guess she won!
