Sunday At The Park

Maddi and I hung out with my parents today. I'll go ahead and post a disclaimer here: This is a LONG post with lots of pics! First, we went to On The Border, where my brother is currently working, to eat lunch. After that, we went to the park. Maddi had a great time and completely wore herself out! We have a park near our house, but it's not that great. However, I'm thinking that as the weather starts to get warmer, a trip to the park every weekend to expend some energy is a great idea! She is currently in her room SOUND ASLEEP! So as I said, on to the pics!

My little tortilla chip eater!

Breaking the rules with Bud and Sissi and getting out of her chair! She actually sat in a booster seat for the first time and did fairly well.

Lovin' on Bud!

Kaily and Aunt Trisha.

Making faces for the camera!

Uncle Michael got Maddi a balloon!

Kaily gave that candy necklace to Sissi who let Maddi suck on it ALL afternoon!

On to the park!

Looking a little tired here.

Sadee and Peyton finally showed up!

One tired baby! Notice she is now wearing the candy necklace. Thanks, Sissi.

Bring A Friend

Today was "Bring A Friend" week at Little Gym. So, Ashly brought Sadee out. She did really well for her first time and seemed to really enjoy it! She clapped to all the music and did rolls, balance beam, and the bars without too much fuss. Actually, it was Maddi who was the fussy one. The last couple of classes she has been less into the "class" part and more into wanting to do her own thing. She doesn't want to be stopped to try whatever the instructor is teaching. Kind of frustrating at times, but then again, I want her to be independent. She will still do some stuff but just not for very long before she runs off to do whatever she wants to do. But today, she actually bent over and put her hands and head down to try and do a front roll on her own! That's as far as she got, but it is progress. So I guess she is learning after all! She is also getting a second molar in on her top right gum. So maybe that has something to do with being fussier, too? Here are some pics of Maddi and Sadee on the air mat and Sadee doing some front rolls!

Jump! Jump!

Here's Maddi showing off one of her skills we have been working on in Little Gym. Her instructor, Mr. Jason, says kids usually don't do actual jumps until they are 2 but they will try at this age. They may get little hops. Considering Maddi didn't even try this at all when she started I think she's doing pretty good. A couple of times she has gotten a little hop in there and surprised herself and fell down. So here's a video of her trying to do her jumps!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Our's was pretty busy. It started off with Little Gym this morning then home for a nap. Then we went out for a late Valentine's Day lunch as a family. After that we went over to Moss' sister's house. It happens to be her birthday today, too. So we took Maddi over there to give Aunt Stacy her gift and to play with her new puppy, Kona. We had a great time and just got back home in time for Maddi to go to bed. Our funny little Valentine is sleeping peacefully as I type.

Eating lunch at Pollo Salsa. Yum!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

1 Year, 3 Months, & 1 Day Old

Ok, so here are some better 15 month pics of my big girl Maddi. She had her Valentine's Day party at school today so she was in her special Valentine's Day shirt and bow. She looked so cute! I'll also update on some of the stuff she's doing now. It's not too different from the last update though. She LOVES to be chased and to play hide-n-seek. With me being the one hiding of course. She loves it when I jump out from where I'm hiding and yell "boo." She jumps a mile but then just starts laughing! She doesn't like it when Moss and I are affectionate with each other at all. She stares and then starts getting mad and stamping her feet. It is sooo funny!
Some new words she's saying: "ball" consistently now,"dog", "hi", "more", "milk", and my new favorite, "Elmo!" Although it sounds more like "memo." It is too cute! She'll also point to things and say "What's that?" And she still says "Uh oh" about a gazillion times a day. That's about all I can think of right now. She's less of a "baby" and more of a "little girl" every day. Which is exciting and sad at the same time. She is just so much fun right now!

Before school this morning.

These are all taken after school. The chair is new. She's been watching Baby Einstein videos some lately and the only thing I had for her to sit on was this wooden flip stool/chair that was small and not that comfortable. I had been wanting to get her one of these chairs for awhile and this seemed to be a good time. I wish I had had it early on to do her monthly pictures in like some of my friends, but oh well. Maybe the next baby will be lucky enough. Moss wants to steal it already to sit in while he plays video games. Nice, huh? She has a little bit of a snotty nose in these pics but she has an absolute melt down anytime I go near her nose with kleenex. So I decided to fore go the battle at the time I was taking pictures.

She loved the chair! At first she sat so sweetly and calmly in it. Then she figured out how to climb up and down out of it and proceeded to do so until she drove me nuts! Then she started pushing it around and then standing up in it! Ahhh! I think she thinks it's her job in life to drive my crazy some days. Hopefully, the newness will wear off soon and she'll just learn to sit in it quietly. Yeah, right.

Maddi made this Valentine's Day plate at school. We paid for it, of course. They had someone come into the school and do it. They also did it at Christmas and I had ordered some for the grandparents that turned out so cute! I had wanted one then but since it was Christmas I decided not to spend the extra money. Then I really wanted one after I saw theirs. So I got a Valentine's one instead. I like the Christmas one better, but this one is really cute, too!

15 Months Old

Maddi turned 15 months old today! My big girl! However, at the moment, I am feeling like a horrible parent. Anytime her "milestone" dates come up, I try to take her picture. I reminded myself all week that Thursday I needed to take her picture. Then today comes around and I reminded myself this morning that I needed to do it this afternoon. I had to round at the hospital so I didn't get to see her this morning. Moss took her to school. Then this afternoon Moss texted me that his work was having happy hour at Gloria's in Addison at 4:30 and that I was welcome to come. My first, knee-jerk reaction was to say no because that's always when I pick Maddi up and I didn't want to mess up our routine. But then I thought about it, and we are always saying how we need to take more time for ourselves and do these kind of things more often. I talked myself into it saying that one night wouldn't be that big of a deal. But I reminded myself again I needed to get her picture that evening. So I left work at 4:30 to get there. That means I have to go on my pager for any important patient calls until 5. You would think this one time I could get away with no calls...but no. I was on the Tollway in rush hour traffic and get a call I have to take. It's the husband of one of our surgical patients and it turns out to be a really frustrating call. He seriously asked me that if the pain medication bottle said to take 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours as needed for pain, how exactly is his wife supposed to take it? Seriously. I mean he just read me the directions and he can't figure that out? So while I'm answering his questions in traffic on my cell phone, I make a wrong turn and have to figure out how to right myself. I finally get there and although it was a good time, I could only stay for about 25 minutes because I had to leave to go get Maddi. And Moss and I both felt guilty the whole time we were there leaving Maddi at school longer than usual. I got to her school at 6:15, fighting traffic all the way again. Her school closes at 6:30 and she was one of two kids left. They had them sitting on the bench in the front with their bags ready. I felt really bad then. She had a good day at school and was in a good mood when we got home. I fed her dinner and we watched a Baby Einstein video. Moss got home right when I was putting her in her pj's. It was Moss' night for bedtime duty so he read her a couple books and put her down. Five minutes after he put her down I realized I had forgotten to take her picture! Now I really felt horrible! I was determined to get one. So I went in her room, but she had already fallen asleep as you can see in the picture below. This will have to be her official 15 month pic, but I will take more tomorrow. Somedays, you just can't win.

My sleeping beauty!

Molars

Maddi is finally starting to get her molars in. I had noticed this one spot on her gums that has been really swollen now for about a week or two and have been watching it for a tooth. Today, I finally was able to see some white poking through and stuck my finger in there and sure enough, I could feel a tooth. I tried looking to see if I could see any more but of course she won't let me look long enough to really tell. I'm sure molars don't feel good coming in. I haven't really noticed too much fussing before today. She woke up during the night Sunday night, so that tooth might have been the culprit. And today after I picked her up from daycare, she was great until dinner time. She ate a few bites of food and then went ballistic! I could not figure out what was wrong. Then that's when I noticed the tooth. Moss came home about that time. We gave her some Motrin but of course it takes awhile to take effect. So she was still crying hysterically. I was really having a tough time, so Moss, God love him, took her outside for a few minutes so I could go change out of my work clothes and get a break. After that she calmed down. She went to bed pretty easily. I'm just hoping the Motrin we gave her earlier carries her through the night!
